  2. I am coming from quebec and moving to the toronto area next year for grade 12. What do I have to do to change schools, and is there a deadline to apply.

  3. Our “Open House” for next year’s incoming Grade 10 students is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 9th. YMCI will be sending flyers to our feeder schools to alert the current Grade 9 students about this event. In order to register, please contact our Guidance Department. If you are not in our school area and wish to enter through the TDSB Optional Attendance option, please visit your present school’s Guidance Department to optain and fill out the necessary form. This form must be handed into the Main Office of YMCI BY WEDNESDAY, FEB. 1, 2012

  5. The hard copy of the January Exam schedule will be distributed to all homeform classes on Tuesday, January 10th. It will also be posted on the school website. “Ghost” students will pick their copies up in either the Guidance or Main offices.

  8. When will your next semester begin? February 2 or January 9?. My daughter will move to your school next semester and want to know the beginning time exactly. I am from China. I am a little confused about your two start dates(January 9 and February 2). Does that mean my dayghter can register if we enter your school before February 2?

  9. November 30th is our next Late Start. You should call the school and request to be added to the Parent Email List – you would get ALL of the school information every two weeks or so in the Principal’s Blog.

  12. I am from the states and i am moving to Canada. I’m currently in the tenth grade. I am in all honors courses and AP classes. How can i get information on this school regarding me transferring there ?

  13. You may pick up your report card until noon on Friday, July 8th in the Main Office.

  14. Hi, I couldn’t make it to report card pick-up on the 30th of June and I heard that the left over report cards are not getting mailed to students, is there any way that I can get it before school starts again in the fall?

  15. This year’s Commencement will be held on Tuesday, June 28th at 12:30 p.m. at On the Park (Leslie and Eglinton). Grads must be there at 11:30 for marshalling. Tickets (1 Grad-2 Guests for $40.) will go on sale in May. Extra tickets (if there are any ) will go on sale ($20 each) in late June.
    Mr. Morris (our VP) will be holding a meeting with all potential graduates very soon to hand out a page of relevant information. Please telephone me if you require anything else. Thanks.

  26. Hello, my names Brad, I’m a grade 10 student wishing to attend York Mills Collegiate Institute. What steps would I have to take to apply for the school, how? and when? Also, I come from St.Peter’s Secondary School, Barrie, Ontario, and I do have 1 credit in religion. How would that affect my other credits? What would happen with that credit?

Hi, I am from one of the feeder schools which flow into York Mills, and we were informed of some sort of information session for new Grade 10′s before the official start of school where we receive our planners, get a tour around the school, meet our teachers, etc. I’d like to know when this session will be happening. Also, I’d like to know when the official start of school will be for the 2010-2011 session. Any response will be appreciated. Thank You.

All students interested in studying at any Toronto District School Board schools are advised to call the International Office of the school board at (416) 395-9618, 395-8109 or 395-8105 or contact Jenny Lim by e-mail at jenny.lim@tdsb.on.ca . The International Office will explain the process and make the final decision regarding the placement of the student.

    My desire is to attend York Mills Collegiate Institute for 10th grade in the year 2009~2012. I have quite a few questions and I hope you would take your time to answer them. Thank You! Here are my questions:
    1) Do I have to live within the area to apply for York Mills?
    2) Does York Mills major in any courses?
    3) Do we have to have a specific average to attend the school? or is it like any other optional attendance school, just academic and applied.

  40. There will be an Open House for all feeder-school Grade 9 students. If you wish to attend that you are welcome. It will be held on Feb. 11 at 6:00 p.m.

  45. Will the interim report be kept in your student transcript? Or are only report cards kept in there?

  46. The answer is YES. You must volunteer for a “not for profit” organization, have your hours on their actual letterhead and the letter must describe the volunteer activities in English.

  48. If Earl Haig is your home school, we are unable to take you. We are full to the rafters and are only able to take students who live within our attendance area. Sorry.

  51. All students were sent a package of information in July which stated that students may call the Guidance Dept. beginning on Monday, Aug. 31st to make appropriate appointments.

  54. Hey there, I’m currently attending the school beside York Mills CI, aka Etienne-Brule, and I was thinking of transferring to this school. May I receive some information about admission?

    been set yet? If yes, what are the dates?

  56. We have a Grade 10 Orientation tentatively planned for Wednesday, Sept. 2.

    We do not have a Spring open house.

  58. This year’s Commencement will take place on Wednesday, June 24th at 1:00 at Le Parc Convention Centre in Thornhill (Grads must be there by noon). There will be a light reception following the 2-hour ceremony. Tickets are $20 each and Grad packs (1 free Grad ticket and 2 Guest Tickets) will go on sale on May 19th from me in the Main Office. Additional tickets are $20 and are on a first-come first-served basis. The 2009 graduating class is very, very large this year and seating will be tight. Hope that answers all of your questions.

  61. Hello, Next fall, school will begin the day after Labour Day, Sept. 8th, 2009, subject to change by TDSB.

  63. I was lucky enough to tour Canada on a rugby tour in the fall of 1979, with The Broxbourne School from England.
    The highlight being a most enjoyable stay at York Mills at the beginning and end of the tour. I was billeted with Mitchell G.
    Whilst playing our last match, a camera crew filmed at York Mills.
    Is there any way I could find a copy of the match as it would bring back fond memories that I could now share with my children?
